Orange Is the New Black’s Ruby Rose has claimed on Threads that pop star Katy Perry sexually assaulted her when Rose was in her early 20s. I support Ruby Rose coming forward. The truth is that Katy Perry has been irking lesbians since she sang I Kissed a Girl (2008), treating same-sex intimacy as a performance for men, a fetish that makes her feel naughty. “It felt so wrong, it felt so right.”
It is unsurprising that Perry would be accused of sexually assaulting a lesbian. It’s extremely common for male-attracted women to throw themselves on lesbians, assuming we have no preferences, standards or agency, and must be desperate for their attention. It’s predatory.
Here is your warning that what Rose describes happening to her at an Australian nightclub is pretty horrific.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s— what she thinks,” Rose wrote.
“She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her,” she continued.
Rose describes Perry using her power and influence to keep her compliant. “After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. Everyone.”
Rose spoke about her experiences reporting such crimes, implying she went to the police. “Once I get my strength back, I will write about the process of reporting. Both crimes that occurred when you were a Child, and those that occurred as an adult ( at least in Australia ). But for now I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok, it was just when the officer would leave the room that my body would collapse into a ball. It was like having narcolepsy. I did not want to burden anyone by taking them with me but I highly recommend others do.”
Katy Perry’s team has denied the allegations.
This is a familiar story and victim response to lesbians. I’ve been flashed, grabbed, humped–you name it–by male-attracted women who assume I would love the attention. I’ve been assaulted by more non-lesbian women than men. In my experience, men say gross things, but male-attracted women are more likely to touch me.
Lesbians are encouraged to erode our boundaries and let all women identify as lesbians for feminist sisterhood, despite so many male-attracted women harming us.
In an article on lesbian fetishism (2024), we heard from lesbians who experienced sexual assault at the hands of non-lesbian women.
“An old friend in college would plan ahead with her boyfriend to get me drunk so that she could experiment with me because I was out as gay so I was her way of accessing the cool novelty of lesbianism. Her behavior was entitled and objectifying, and I ended the friendship after she orchestrated an impromptu all-girl four-way on a trip and then wouldn’t speak to me for days afterwards.” – T, 25, Long Island, USA.
“I was groped and had my ass slapped nonconsensually by a drunk straight woman during a concert … she thought it was OK because I was also a woman and clearly gay” – Rie, 34, Seattle, WA, USA.
“I’ve been seeing [skits] across social media lately depicting a “straight” girl coming over to a lesbian’s place and making very obvious moves on the lesbian shown in the video while the lesbian is clearly uncomfortable … It’s a pretty common notion that lesbians are a sexual experiment.” – Juniper, 21, NY.
Katy Perry was mentioned.
“My immediate thought is a recent Katy Perry performance, where she and Doechii scissored on stage. She does so during a song specifically about men, and why? What does she gain by doing this with a woman towards a clearly male target audience? … Men also get obsessed with the idea of ‘turning’ a lesbian.” – Parker, 20s, CA, USA.
